Melissa McArthur | Photographer & Visual Storyteller

Hi, I’m Melissa—a Williamsburg-based blogger, photographer, and road-tripper with a passion for finding the story in every frame. Through Girl Who Travels, I document my journeys across the highway, capturing the unique juxtaposition of history, imagination, nature, and industrial design.
For me, travel isn’t about rushing to a destination; it’s about the quiet, candid moments found along the open road—whether that’s watching the mist settle on Skyline Drive, exploring the deep history of a local landmark, or feeling the energy of a crowded rock festival. I approach photography through a lens of narrative, seeking the hidden stories behind everything from sprawling landscapes to the intricate architectural details of a well-traveled bridge. When I’m not behind the camera or planning my next driving route, you can usually find me hunting down unique local sights or reflecting on the beautiful, unscripted moments that make the journey worthwhile.
The photos you see on this page were shot with either my Pixel 9 Pro or my Canon EOS Rebel T7. I use Adobe Lightroom for photo editing.
